I have known Denise since 1991 and have always found her to live her life authentically, with passion and loads of joy. She has a wonderful outlook on life, bringing laughter and fun into a room! Kids can’t help but love her and want to spend time with her. She is animated, makes the time lots of fun; but has a way a getting the child to focus and achieve results.

Denise is hard working. Her motivation is to be present for her young clients. She has a knack of getting the best out of them. Her business model is to follow the direction and leading from the Therapists to ensure that she is providing the best outcome she can, guided by the professional’s expertise. Denise is all about recognising goals, working towards them, mastering one step at a time and creating momentum. I can testify that even the most high-needs young person can feel like they are achieving gold!

When Denise started working with my daughter who is non-verbal and is intellectually and physically impaired, I was so impressed with her total devotion to get to know her and to learn what her needs and wants were. With a high needs child this takes time and she respectfully and patiently waited for Candice to warm up to her – which she certainly has.

Denise has jumped in the deep end (not having worked with such a high needs client before) and shown her worth with my daughter progressing in leaps and bounds. Denise has totally immersed herself in my daughter's world and although she follows instruction, she thinks outside the box when tackling new things, working as a team player with the primary caregiver, teachers, teacher aides, therapists and other support staff, ensuring the best outcome.

Denise has been an amazing sounding board and fellow brainstormer, thinking through situations and how to navigate through them. The brainstorming has been such a support, as being a primary carer can be such a lonely road. Denise has a natural way of helping you see the big picture and help you see the steps to get to the end of the rainbow. She is very encouraging, non-judgemental and an asset to anyone looking for a Therapy Assistant who is proactive, a quick learner and an honest lady who has integrity.

Denise worked with my 12 year old son, Matthew, whose main challenges are Down Syndrome, ADHD and Autism, for approximately six months while I was incapacitated with a badly broken elbow and torn ligaments.
​
Before she came on board our team, Matthew's therapies were very slow going. He would show a lot of behavioural issues in the sessions which slowed the Therapists from doing what they had planned. And it was incredibly difficult to achieve the therapy homework.
​
Denise worked in close collaboration with our Behaviour Therapists, Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist. We saw a significant jump in Matthew's fine motor skills, behaviour and in his communication while she was with us.
​
She took on the behaviour modifications that our Behaviour Therapist put in place to assist Matthew with his afternoon and evening routines. She also assisted with outings in the community to help with the behaviour problems we encountered on a regular basis. And also succeeded in implementing the homework set by the Therapists, from which we saw huge changes.
​
Denise is a great educator and was able to have my son enjoy his homework. She was able to have him doing his therapies happily for the allocated two hours, something I haven't seen anyone achieve before.
​
As directed by our Behaviour Therapists, she taught me to recognise and use the best language to motivate Matthew to make good choices. She also helped me to recognise the difference between implementing rewards as opposed to removal of rewards. This in itself has been a huge change for Matthew.

Denise is solution oriented. Her time management is impeccable, while her approach is gentle and loving, she is also very committed to following our therapists directions. I love how organised she is and yet shows a flexibility that helped her gel with our family dynamics very easily. She was always punctual and dependable with her shifts, also.
​
I have no hesitation in recommending Denise in the field of her profession as I have never seen anyone do what she does with so much eagerness and kindness. Your child will be the better for having Denise in their lives.

When I think about Denise and the way she has supported our son over the past 5 years I am deeply grateful. I would say that for Denise, working with our young people is more than a job, it's her calling. Her bubbly and energetic personality is very attractive to young people. My family will always be grateful for her ongoing commitment and careful care of our son.
